Pompano Beach is an exciting town these days. But, it's not as well known as some of
our neighbors to the North and South. So, we put together this guide, to help you
navigate our neighborhood. 🏖
The name 'Pompano' is derived from a fish species of the same name. This name was choosen
inadvertently, when in 1896, a surveyor notated his dinner, a Pompano fish, onto the map.
For more on our city's history, take a look at the
Pompano Beach Historical Society.
Get to the sand!
On the map below, you'll notice the quickest path to the ocean from our villas.
Though not the only path, this two-block route is the one you'll probably want to take after
checking-in.
The beach has plenty of hotels and restaurants scattered throughout the shore. And, the road that most of
them is on is 'Briny Ave', named after the infamous Briny Bar. This bar is very popular with locals and
tourists alike, and if you're looking for company, you'll always find it here.
The beach is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The embankment along the beach is public along the
entire coast, with, private and public property between the embankment and the nearest road. That
means you're free to walk near the waters at all times, though, accessing that walkway may need
you to navigate the public signage once you're outside the boardwalk. 🌊
Walkable Areas
It's so walkable here - you don't need a car. And many of our guests tell
us they're happier here without one. We have
a free shuttle
service here that's very convenient. But, there's a public bus service, and docks,
should you not have a car, and need to get somewhere a little further. Nonetheless,
let's start with a walking tour. 🚶
Restaurants
If you're a foodie - you're going to find plenty of great food here in East Pompano Beach.
Within short distance, you can find restaurants of all kinds. Here's a list of
nearby restaurants that we've enjoyed and recommend. 🍲
Flanigans - A local franchise with great prices for quality pub food
Bella Monte Deli - want a sub? These are humongous. Great italian market.
Take Sushi - Our favorite Sushi Restaurant within in walking distance
9 Face - Also a fantastic Sushi restaurant, in short walking distance
The Galleria Mall - Our nearest mall, with lots of stores and restaurants
Nature
Fishing - We have too many fishing opportunities to list! There are charter boat docks all over the island. Here's a few to the North.
Diving - Here again, are too many choices to list. But, here's a spot our guests love, just down the street.
Butterfly Gardens - You certainly know all the beach features of Pompano by now. But, did you know that Pompano Beach is the Butterfly capital of the world? It sure is. Check out this hidden gem!
Nightlife
There's lots to do here in South Florida. From baseball and soccer, to Wynwood. But, here, we're focusing on our little neighborhood. Feel
free to ask Amy or Chris for more suggestions around the larger community. Also, Friday nights usually has a movie or band playing on the Atlantic
blvd entrance to the boardwalk. You can usually hear it in the distance from here. Definitely check that out if you want to
meet some of the Pompano Beach locals. 🍷
Briny Irish Pub - The center of our neighborhood's nightlife. It's a great place, don't miss it!
26 Degree Brewing - A nearby brewery, with lots to do and plenty of activity.
The Cove - A waterside bar and restaurant with lots of turnout on promotional days. It's a neat plaza too.
Lauderdale by the Sea - There's lots to do at the Pier to our South. Just pop over and see where you end up.
Fort Lauderdale Beach - There's too much to list, going on here. The ride here is short and direct. Definately worth a look.
Casinos
Seminole Hard Rock - The Largest casino in Florida, with plenty of fun to be had outside the gaming itself. Totally worth a day of your trip!
Harrah's - Pompano's old horse racing tracks, are now a fantastic casino! This is a short ride west, if you're looking to gamble, head on over.
Seminole Casino Coconut Creek - This lesser known casino is a short distance north of Harrah's. Also a great choice.
