Beach Guide

Pelican on Pompano Beach Pier

Pompano Beach is an exciting town these days. But, it's not as well known as some of our neighbors to the North and South. So, we put together this guide, to help you navigate our neighborhood. 🏖

The name 'Pompano' is derived from a fish species of the same name. This name was choosen inadvertently, when in 1896, a surveyor notated his dinner, a Pompano fish, onto the map. For more on our city's history, take a look at the Pompano Beach Historical Society.

Get to the sand!

On the map below, you'll notice the quickest path to the ocean from our villas. Though not the only path, this two-block route is the one you'll probably want to take after checking-in.

Walk to Beach Map

The beach has plenty of hotels and restaurants scattered throughout the shore. And, the road that most of them is on is 'Briny Ave', named after the infamous Briny Bar. This bar is very popular with locals and tourists alike, and if you're looking for company, you'll always find it here.

Atlantic and Briny Ave

The beach is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The embankment along the beach is public along the entire coast, with, private and public property between the embankment and the nearest road. That means you're free to walk near the waters at all times, though, accessing that walkway may need you to navigate the public signage once you're outside the boardwalk. 🌊

Walkable Areas

It's so walkable here - you don't need a car. And many of our guests tell us they're happier here without one. We have a free shuttle service here that's very convenient. But, there's a public bus service, and docks, should you not have a car, and need to get somewhere a little further. Nonetheless, let's start with a walking tour. 🚶

There's lots to do here in South Florida. From baseball and soccer, to Wynwood. But, here, we're focusing on our little neighborhood. Feel free to ask Amy or Chris for more suggestions around the larger community. Also, Friday nights usually has a movie or band playing on the Atlantic blvd entrance to the boardwalk. You can usually hear it in the distance from here. Definitely check that out if you want to meet some of the Pompano Beach locals. 🍷
